new botanical watercolor/collages
SIP cafe [Riverside Village]
month of OCTOBER 2011
zinnias are ONE of my favorite flowers...this includes echinacea as well. they are the flowers i look for when spring comes around...searching for foliage first taking great pleasure in that foliage changing colors of green, growing upward and cascading color and systematic forms. these flowers are friendly gestures unlike the red rose symbolizing power-love-possession. the zinnia and coneflower are gestures of simplicity, friendly warmth, and pure being.

artist's statement.
I like to think that my work is that of the anatomy of the human body or any mammal-being: the arrangement and support of the bones, which props the organs, who are sustained by the fluids, all maintaining the brain [mind].
I draw to record/document a memory of incident, sight, or setting. The drawing acts merely as a backbone to a potential perception of that thing, which is then expressed through the five human senses. Once the “negative” is developed, painting strangely transforms the once desolate organization into a now grounded arrangement of voices, movements – ranging from loud, quiet, gentle, and fierce.
